Tesla has officially lowered the Chinese prices of two higher-priced models that are not produced locally, after previously offering huge discounts.
Both the Tesla Model S and Model X are offered in China in an entry-level dual-motor all-wheel-drive version, as well as a more expensive tri-motor all-wheel-drive Plaid version.
The latest starting price for the dual-motor Model S is RMB 698,900, RMB 110,000, or 13.6 percent, lower than the RMB 808,900 previously shown on Tesla's China website.
The latest starting price for the tri-motor Model S Plaid is RMB 828,900, down RMB 200,000, or 19.44 percent, from RMB 1,028,900 previously shown.
The latest starting price for the dual-motor Model X is RMB 738,900, down RMB 160,000, or 17.80 percent, from RMB 898,900 previously.
The latest starting price for the tri-motor Model X Plaid is RMB 838,900, down RMB 220,000, or 20.78 percent, from RMB 1,058,900 previously.
Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that currently only produces the cheaper Model 3 and Model Y. Earlier this year, the new Model S and Model X were imported into China.
The last price change for the Model S and Model X on Tesla's China website was on May 5, when prices for all of their versions were raised by 19,000 yuan.
From May 5 to August 31, there were no changes to the prices of the Model S and Model X displayed on Tesla's China website.
