On July 4th, BYD held a ceremony in Rayong Province, Thailand, to mark the completion of its Thai factory and the production of its 8 millionth new energy vehicle. This event signifies a significant step forward in BYD's global expansion efforts. The event was attended by Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Industry of Thailand; Han Zhiqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Thailand; Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary-General of the Thailand Board of Investment; and Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD.

BYD's Thailand factory achieved production within a swift 16-month period from groundbreaking, with an annual capacity of around 150,000 vehicles. It encompasses complete vehicle assembly and four major component factories, replicating the new energy vehicle supply chain overseas. Simultaneously, BYD made history as the first global automaker to reach the milestone of 8 million new energy vehicles produced, with the Dolphin model rolling off the line at the Thailand factory.

Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn highly praised BYD for its significant contributions to the new energy vehicle sector. He emphasized that BYD is a global leader in automotive manufacturing and a pioneering enterprise in China's new energy vehicle industry. He noted that BYD's investment in Thailand, bringing advanced production technologies, will propel the development of the new energy vehicle industry not only in Thailand but also across ASEAN.

Ambassador Han Zhiqiang expressed that China and Thailand are close neighbors with shared destinies and strong partnerships. As a distinguished representative of the global new energy vehicle industry, BYD's Thailand factory has officially completed construction and reached the milestone of producing its 8 millionth new energy vehicle. This achievement marks not only a significant milestone for BYD but also another milestone in the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Thailand in the new energy vehicle sector.

Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD, expressed gratitude on-site to the governments of China and Thailand, as well as to the vast users and partners in Thailand, for their strong support. He highlighted that BYD has strategically entered the Thai market and gained rapid recognition within just two years. Over the past eighteen months, BYD has consistently secured the top spot in pure electric vehicle sales in Thailand. Currently, for every three pure electric vehicles sold in Thailand, one is a BYD. Looking ahead, BYD plans to introduce more pure electric vehicle models and hybrid models in Thailand. By combining Thailand's first-class manufacturing capabilities with BYD's leading new energy technologies, the aim is to drive the transformation and upgrading of Thailand's automotive industry chain.

As a global leader in new energy vehicles, BYD has vigorously expanded its overseas markets in recent years. In 2023, BYD's passenger vehicle exports reached 243,000 units, marking a 337% year-on-year increase. In the first half of this year, BYD's new energy passenger vehicle sales totaled 1.607 million units, up by 28.8% year-on-year, solidifying its position as the world's leading new energy vehicle company. Among these, overseas sales exceeded 203,000 units, a remarkable 173.8% increase, demonstrating robust growth momentum. Currently, BYD's new energy vehicles are present in over 88 countries and regions and more than 400 cities worldwide. Apart from Thailand, BYD also operates passenger vehicle production facilities in countries such as Brazil, Hungary, and Uzbekistan.

Since achieving the milestone of producing its 1 millionth new energy vehicle in May 2021, BYD has rapidly achieved another landmark by reaching its 8 millionth vehicle in just over three years. This remarkable growth represents a leap forward in the new energy sector, once again rewriting global automotive industry history.
