In 2023, BYD’s four major business areas grew together, achieving a total revenue of 602.32 billion yuan, up 42% from the previous year. The company set a new record for electric vehicle sales, reaching 3.024 million units for the year and entering the top ten global best-selling car brands for the first time. For January to July 2024, BYD sold 1.947 million electric vehicles, ranking eighth among the world’s top-selling car brands, further boosting its international presence.
This year, BYD has accelerated its international expansion. By July, overseas sales exceeded 233,000 vehicles, nearing last year’s total. BYD’s electric cars are now available in 88 countries and regions, and over 400 cities worldwide. On July 4, 2024, BYD’s 8 millionth electric vehicle rolled off the production line in Thailand, marking the start of operations at its Thai factory. The company also has production bases in Brazil, Hungary, and Uzbekistan, driving global industrial growth and supporting the green transformation of the automotive industry.
BYD’s record-breaking achievements are driven by its focus on “technology and innovation.” In 2023, BYD’s R&D investment approached 40 billion yuan, a 97% increase from the previous year, with a total R&D investment of 140 billion yuan. BYD has filed over 48,000 patents globally, with more than 30,000 granted, and employs over 102,800 R&D staff, providing strong technical support for the global new energy industry.
