Hongqi Ships 700 Vehicles to Middle East as Part of Major Expansion Push

2025/07/03 Cars

Chinese automaker Hongqi has shipped 700 vehicles to the Middle East as part of a broader 1,714-unit order, marking the brand’s largest entry into several emerging markets in the region and a key step in its international expansion.

The shipment, which departed from Yantai Port on June 29, highlights Hongqi’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the Middle East and North Africa. The vehicles are part of a broader initiative by FAW Import & Export Co., Hongqi’s overseas distributor, to expand market share amid growing competition in the region.

Among the recent deals, FAW secured a major government order from Libya for 1,250 high-end passenger vehicles, representing the largest single overseas government procurement in Hongqi’s history. The company attributed the contract to its tailored vehicle solutions and close coordination with local stakeholders.

FAW officials said the deals have improved Hongqi’s brand visibility and market share in the Middle East and will help support the development of a global sales and service network. The experience is also expected to serve as a model for entering other emerging international markets.

The expansion aligns with China’s Belt and Road Initiative and reflects a broader effort by Chinese carmakers to increase their presence in global markets. FAW Import & Export said it will continue to enhance product capabilities and overseas operations to support the international growth of the Hongqi brand.
