Who is the Champion of China New-Energy Buses Export in the First Half of 2025

2025/07/15 Buses

In the first half of 2025, China’s new-energy bus export market saw a remarkable performance. BYD exported 2,082 new-energy buses in the first half of the year, up 45% year-on-year. With a market share of 27.29%, the company continued to lead the industry, fully demonstrating its leading position and strong growth momentum in the global new-energy commercial vehicle sector.

Technological Innovation as the Core Engine

Technological innovation is the core driver that enables BYD to maintain its leading position. Its all-electric buses are equipped with self-developed Blade batteries, highly efficient electric drive systems, and intelligent technologies. These buses have set industry benchmarks in key indicators such as safety, range, and energy efficiency, earning high recognition from overseas customers and becoming a solid foundation for its global market expansion.

Impressive Performance in the European Market

Europe, where BYD’s electric buses first made inroads, saw a strong performance in the first half of 2025. The company successfully delivered over 1,000 buses in several European countries, including Germany, the UK, Italy, and Sweden. To date, BYD has received over 6,700 electric bus orders in Europe, covering more than 160 cities in 26 countries. These buses have accumulated a total mileage of 590 million kilometers, equivalent to a reduction of 630,000 tons of carbon emissions. In June 2025, BYD unveiled its new electric bus, the B13.b, at the 2025 UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Germany, specifically designed to meet the needs of long-distance intercity routes in Europe. BYD’s buses have also been delivered to multiple regions, including Asia-Pacific and Latin America, covering various scenarios such as public transportation, commuting, and airport shuttles. With excellent product performance and zero-emission solutions, BYD is providing strong support for the global transition to green transportation.

Global Sales Milestones

As of the end of June 2025, BYD’s commercial vehicles had achieved cumulative global sales of over 160,000 units. It is worth noting that while leading in new-energy bus exports, BYD’s overall overseas performance was equally impressive, with seven consecutive months of growth. In the first half of the year, BYD’s overseas sales reached 472,000 units, up 132% year-on-year, surpassing its total overseas sales for the entire year of 2024. Among these, the “BYD SHARK” pickup truck recorded overseas sales of over 26,000 units in the first half of the year, while the globally renowned SUV model, Song PLUS, continued to enjoy strong sales, with overseas sales exceeding 130,000 units in the same period.
