2025 Largest Single Export to Africa:200 Golden Dragon BRT Buses Delivered to Tanzania

2025/07/22 Buses

On July 17, 2025, representatives from Tanzania and government officials completed the acceptance of the first batch of 200 18 - meter - long BRT buses in Xiamen. These buses, customized by Golden Dragon for the local BRT project, represent the largest single - batch export of BRT buses from China to Africa in 2025.

At Golden Dragon's Haicang plant, the 18 - meter - long BRT buses were lined up in an orderly fashion. Representatives from Tanzania carefully inspected the condition and configuration of the vehicles. These buses were specifically designed for the BRT project in Dar es Salaam, the capital of Tanzania. Considering the local environment with high temperature and humidity, as well as the high - intensity operation, Golden Dragon made multiple optimizations in the vehicle design: the interior features easy - to - clean plastic seats to improve cleaning efficiency, and key parts such as handrails and bars are made of high - strength, more wear - resistant materials to enhance the durability and safety of the entire vehicle.

Mohammed Kassim, Executive Director of MOFAT Company in Tanzania: "The Tanzanian government has its own standards for BRT parameters and settings. The manufacturing process and internal configuration of these Golden Dragon buses are very professional, almost identical to our requirements. We are very satisfied with the delivery of the buses."

Hu Hui, Vice president of Golden Dragon International Trading Company: "Considering the high frequency of passenger flow on the BRT in Tanzania, the requirements for the durability and wear - resistance of the floor coverings are very high. Therefore, we have chosen the top - grade floor coverings, which significantly improve wear - resistance and water - proof performance."

Thanks to the intelligent manufacturing system and digital production lines, the 200 BRT buses were manufactured in just 45 days. The first batch of 100 buses is scheduled to depart from Xiamen Xiamen Port on the 20th and is expected to arrive in Tanzania in mid - August, with official operations starting in September.

Athuman Kihamnia, CEO of DART (Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit) Project: "The BRT project is of great importance to us. With a population of about 6 million in Dar es Salaam, the BRT has greatly improved commuting efficiency, saving an average of nearly one hour. Currently, we are in the second phase of the project, and all the vehicles for the first two phases come from Golden Dragon. We look forward to continuing to deepen our cooperation with Golden Dragon and with China in the future."

In the first half of this year, Golden Dragon exported a total of 4,976 buses, a year - on - year increase of 74%. The African market has seen particularly significant growth, with orders from multiple countries in Asia and Europe also progressing steadily. In the second half of the year, the company will deliver several more batches of orders to Africa and Europe, further consolidating the brand influence of "Made in China" in the global bus industry.
