China’s medium-duty truck market saw a 30% year-on-year decline in June 2025, with monthly sales totaling 10,100 units, the second-lowest June performance in the past five years.
The sector has shown a fluctuating pattern in recent years. June 2021 marked the peak with 15,600 units sold, followed by a sharp 43% drop in June 2022 to below 10,000 units. Sales rebounded moderately in the subsequent two years, reaching 14,400 units in June 2024, before slipping again this year.
Cumulative sales for the first half of 2025 reached 59,500 units, placing third over the five-year span. The figure is down nearly 50,000 units from the same period in 2021 and 10,600 units below last year’s total, reflecting a mid-level market performance amid ongoing industry headwinds.

Overall truck sales, including chassis and tractor trucks, reached 316,200 units in June, up 8% month-over-month and year-over-year but medium-duty trucks posted a 30% year-over-year decline to 10,100 units, marking the fourth consecutive month of shrinking sales.

FAW TRUCKS remained the top seller in June with 3,818 units, accounting for 38% of the market — the highest among all brands, followed by Sinotruk, JAC, Dongfeng, and Qingling. Despite the overall downturn, brands such as SHACMAN and Farizon achieved significant year-over-year growth of 317% and 672%, respectively in the first half.
In the first half of 2025, FAW TRUCKS held a 30.56% market share, with JAC and Dongfeng following at 15.16% and 12.23%. Sinotruk and Foton also secured double-digit shares. Several manufacturers, including FAW TRUCKS, Dongfeng, and Sinotruk, increased their market share compared to last year.
The medium truck segment has seen fluctuating demand over recent years, with June sales in 2025 reaching the second-lowest level in five years. Industry watchers remain cautious about whether the market will recover in the latter half of the year.
