​China’s Mini Truck Sales Surge 82% in September

China’s mini truck market bounced back strongly in September 2025. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), 33,900 mini trucks were sold last month, up 82% year-on-year and 10% from August. This marks the third consecutive month of year-on-year growth, outperforming the overall truck market, which rose 29% in September.

After a mixed start to the year, the mini truck market showed a clear recovery in the second half of 2025. The market grew in January and February, declined for four months from March to June, and rebounded from July to September. By the end of September, cumulative sales from January to September reached 317,300 units, down 10% year-on-year, but narrower than August’s 15% decline.

September Market Highlights

Top Sellers: Wuling led the month with 18,100 units, capturing 53.4% of the market. Chery sold 5,448 units (16.1%), and Changan sold 4,197 units (12.4%). Shandong Kama ranked fourth with 2,640 units (7.8%), followed by Farizon and Dongfeng, each selling over 1,500 units. The top six companies together accounted for 99.4% of the market.

Strongest Growth: Wuling (+1004%), Chery (+29%), and Foton (+35%) recorded significant year-on-year growth. Shandong REACH and JAC also posted net gains. Among the declining companies, two experienced double-digit drops, with the worst performer down 32%.

Total mini truck sales reached 317,300 units, down 10% year-on-year.

Chery (+45%), Shandong REACH, and Yuchai New Energy achieved net growth, while four other companies saw double-digit declines, the largest being 40%.

Market share leaders remain Wuling (51.1%), Changan (17.9%), and Chery (12.9%). Shandong Kama holds 9%, Dongfeng 5.4%, and Farizon 3.3%, while other brands account for less than 0.5% each.

Overall, China’s mini truck market is recovering after early-year declines. With three months left in 2025, the sector still has a chance to post a full-year increase.
