China’s battery giant CATL has signed an agreement with Turkish automaker Togg to jointly develop and produce electric vehicle models based on its integrated “Chassis Skating Platform,” the companies said.

Under the agreement, Togg will collaborate with CATL’s subsidiary CAIT-Smart on the development of three new models built on Togg’s B-segment vehicle platform. The first model is scheduled to enter mass production in 2027.

The companies said the project represents the first time an integrated intelligent chassis system from China is being supplied to overseas passenger vehicle programs. It also expands CATL’s role beyond batteries into vehicle architecture systems as part of its broader push into global automotive supply chains.

The agreement was signed by Togg CEO Gürcan Karakaş, CATL Co-President of Marketing Tan Libin, and CAIT-Smart General Manager Yang Hanbing. Togg Chairman Fuat Tosyalı, CATL Chairman and CEO Zeng Yuqun, and CATL Overseas Business Head Li Xiaoning were also present.

CATL’s “Chassis Skating Platform” is a skateboard-style EV architecture integrating key vehicle systems. The company describes it as a high-safety platform, designed with a focus on structural protection, battery safety, and high-voltage system management.

Togg, Turkey’s first domestically developed electric vehicle brand, will be responsible for vehicle definition, user experience design, and digital architecture development under the partnership.

The collaboration follows a co-development model in which core chassis architecture is provided by CATL, allowing Togg to focus on upper-level vehicle design and customer-facing features.

CATL has been expanding its international footprint across Europe, Southeast Asia, and other regions, as it seeks to extend its role from battery supplier to broader mobility systems provider in the global electric vehicle industry.
