On May 12, Yutong Group and CATL renewed their strategic partnership by signing a comprehensive memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Ningde, Fujian Province. Zhang Xiubao, Director of the Supply Chain Department of Yutong Group, and Wang Hui, President of the Bus Business Division of CATL, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies. Tang Yuxiang, Chairman of Yutong Group, and Zeng Yuqun, Chairman and CEO of CATL, attended and witnessed the ceremony.
The collaboration will focus on four core areas:
1. Joint Global Expansion
Targeting more than 60 countries and regions worldwide, both parties will set a benchmark for technological export and brand globalization in China’s automotive industry, accelerating the implementation of an integrated “vehicle-battery global expansion” strategy.
2. Full-Scenario Electrification of Commercial Vehicles
An integrated “vehicle-battery” ecosystem will be developed, covering three major scenarios—mobility, logistics, and operations—to facilitate the green transformation of the commercial vehicle sector.
3. Battery-Swapping Heavy-Duty Truck Business
The two parties will jointly establish standards and an operational system for battery-swapping heavy-duty trucks. By combining CATL’s battery-swapping technologies with Yutong’s vehicle integration capabilities, a new model featuring “vehicle-battery separation and ultra-fast energy replenishment” will be created.
4. Co-Brand Building
Both parties will work together to develop a leading brand portfolio, adhere to a high-quality development strategy, and strengthen the premium reputation of Chinese brands.
For the past 15 years, Yutong Group has exclusively used CATL batteries, making CATL its sole strategic supplier of power batteries. In return, CATL has supported Yutong’s high-quality development with preferential policies, premium products, and priority supply. Taking this strategic MoU as a new starting point, the two parties will continue to move forward hand in hand, leading the global green transportation revolution.
