According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), light truck sales reached approximately 1.05 million units in the first half of 2026, an increase of 1% from the same period last year.
China's overall truck market totaled 347,000 units in June, up 10% year on year and 7% month on month. Among the major truck segments, heavy-duty truck sales increased 19%, medium-duty truck sales rose 30%, and light truck sales gained 10%, while mini truck sales fell 19%.

Historically, June is a seasonal low month for China's light truck market. Excluding the exceptional performance recorded in June 2020, June sales over the past decade have generally ranged between 130,000 and 170,000 units.

With 184,900 units sold, June 2026 recorded the second-highest June sales volume of the past 10 years. Combined with a 10% year-on-year increase, the result marked one of the strongest monthly performances in recent years and reflected continued improvement in market demand during the first half of 2026.

Looking at first-half performance, cumulative light truck sales have generally ranged between 800,000 and 1 million units over the past decade, with six of the last 10 years falling within that range.
In the first half of 2026, cumulative sales reached 1.0496 million units, slightly above the historical range and the second-highest first-half total recorded in the past decade.

Monthly year-on-year growth fluctuated during the first six months of the year, but the market returned to positive territory by the end of June. Cumulative sales for the first half rose 1% from a year earlier, an increase of approximately 13,800 units.
