China’s medium-duty truck market declined in July 2026, even as the overall truck market continued to grow.

According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), China’s truck market, including truck chassis and tractor trucks, sold 269,500 units in July, down 22% from June but up 2% year on year.

July Sales Fall to 8,127 Units

The July decline ended a four-month run of year-on-year growth that began in March 2026.

Over the past five years, medium-duty truck sales in July have followed a pattern of decline, growth, growth, decline and decline.

Only once in the past five years did July sales exceed 10,000 units.

The 8,127 units sold in July 2026 ranked third among the past five years, behind July 2024 and July 2025. Sales were about 500 units lower than in July 2025.

Despite the decline in July, cumulative sales continued to grow.

From January to July 2026, China sold 82,700 medium-duty trucks, up 21% year on year and about 14,500 units more than in the same period of 2025.

The figure was the highest January-July total in the past five years.
