Jan–Sep: BYD holds the top spot; Yutong and Golden Dragon rank second and third. Ankai leads growth with a more than fourfold YoY surge.
From January to September, China exported a total of 15,984 new energy buses, rising 26.98% year on year.
BYD secured the leading position with 3,930 exported new energy buses. It is the only manufacturer with cumulative exports exceeding 3,900 units, representing a 17.31% year-on-year increase and capturing a 24.59% market share.
Yutong Bus retained second place, the same ranking it held for the first eight months, with 2,676 exported new energy buses, up 11.83% year on year and accounting for 16.74% of the market.
Golden Dragon Bus stayed in third place, also unchanged from the January–August ranking. It shipped 1,655 new energy buses, jumping 98.92% year on year for a 10.35% market share.
Nine out of the top 10 exporters posted year-on-year growth, one more than in the first eight months. Ankai Bus led the pack with a YoY growth rate of 415.14%. Other manufacturers with substantial growth include Chery Wanda (387.83%), Foton AUV (170.41%) and CRRC Electric (124.72%). These strong performances underpin the industry's 26.98% cumulative year-on-year growth for the nine-month period.
Looking at the market landscape, the top three positions remained unchanged compared with the January–August ranking. Fueled by its spectacular month-on-month and year-on-year gains in September — the highest YoY growth of all players for the month — Ankai Bus climbed one spot from fifth to fourth, swapping places with Suzhou King Long (Higer Bus). King Long Bus and CRRC Electric held sixth and seventh respectively. Chery Wanda and Foton AUV swapped rankings. Zhongtong Bus joined the top 10, backed by its robust September performance: 369.23% YoY growth and 56.41% MoM growth.
BYD remains the only brand with cumulative new energy bus exports above 3,000 units, at 3,930. Yutong's cumulative shipments surpassed 2,600 units, making BYD and Yutong the only two manufacturers to break the 2,000-unit threshold. Manufacturers ranked third to seventh recorded export volumes between 1,000 and 1,700 units.
This means an average monthly export volume of 112 units is enough to secure a spot in the top seven, while fewer than 50 buses per month can earn a place among the top 10 exporters.
