DEEPAL celebrated its first anniversary in Egypt and launched the DEEPAL S09 in Cairo on October 25, local time. The event was attended by Zhu Huarong, Chairman of China Changan Automobile Group Co., Ltd.; Zhao Liuqing, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt; Karim Gaddas, CEO of GB Auto, DEEPAL’s strategic partner in Egypt; Saad Habib, COO of GB Auto; as well as local DEEPAL owners and media representatives.
The event marked another step in Changan’s global expansion strategy, known as “Vast Ocean.” Zhu Huarong said Egypt is an important market for Changan and a key part of its long-term global development plans.
Zhu said China Changan Automobile has a history of 164 years, including 45 years of experience in vehicle manufacturing. The company operates 93 factories worldwide, and its products are sold in 149 countries and regions. Changan is advancing three major strategies: “Shangri-La” for new energy, “Beidou Tianshu” for intelligent technologies, and “Vast Ocean” for global expansion. The company also focuses on long-term development, local operations, systematic business development and ESG practices, under its commitment to “In Egypt, For Egypt.”
Changan was one of the first Chinese automotive brands to enter the Egyptian market. Over the years, it has introduced CHANGAN, DEEPAL and AVATR to local consumers, expanding the range of vehicles available in Egypt. Two models are also produced locally, helping create jobs and support the development of the country’s automotive supply chain.
DEEPAL officially entered Egypt in August 2025. Within a few months, its sales exceeded 1,000 units. According to the company, DEEPAL ranked first in Egypt’s range-extended electric vehicle segment. Models such as the DEEPAL S05, S07 and G318 have attracted local customers. The launch of the S09 further expands the brand’s lineup in Egypt.
Zhu also highlighted Changan’s progress in intelligent technologies. The company continues to develop its “Tianshu Intelligence” brand, with related technologies first introduced in China on the Changan Qiyuan Q06. Changan aims to bring these technologies to Egyptian consumers in the future.
Looking ahead, China Changan Automobile plans to continue expanding its presence in Egypt under the “Vast Ocean” strategy. The company aims to introduce one new locally produced model in Egypt each year and strengthen its partnerships with GB Auto and other local partners. Through these efforts, Changan seeks to offer more choices to Egyptian consumers and support the growth of Egypt’s automotive industry.
