Zhongtong Bus Opens Euro Bus Expo with Global Customized Solutions for Western Europe

2026/11/05 Buses
Birmingham, UK, November 3 — Euro Bus Expo opened in Birmingham, the UK's flagship public transport show, a bellwether for global public transport trends and a stage where bus builders prove their mettle.
Zhongtong Bus arrived in force, showcasing two products — the N11D double-decker electric city bus and the H12 Plus premium touring coach — as it brings its customized mobility solutions to a global audience.
Two Decades of Global Reach: Forging a Core Edge in Localized Customization

Western Europe's low-carbon public transport transition is accelerating, and local operators demand high levels of regulatory compliance, operating-condition adaptability, human-centered design and total cost of ownership.
Zhongtong Bus's public transport solutions tailored for Western Europe draw their confidence from more than two decades of deep experience in overseas markets. Guided by an R&D philosophy of "one policy per country, one solution per scenario," the company has upgraded from a whole-vehicle exporter to a global supplier of customized mobility solutions.
Overseas business has become a core pillar of Zhongtong's growth. In 2025, exports became the main source of performance, with new-energy bus exports accounting for more than 20% of total exports. In the first half of 2026, overseas markets continued to break new ground, with sales up 23.4% year on year.

These results rest on Zhongtong's strong localized customization capability — calibrating products specifically to the climate, road conditions and operating requirements of each region.

From the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Latin America to Western Europe, every new market Zhongtong has entered has been built on a deep study of that market. The Birmingham show is the real-world application of this overseas strategy in Western Europe.

"Twin Stars" Take the Stage: Customized Products Answer Operators' Real Needs

Drawing on the customized R&D capability sharpened through overseas experience, both models on display — the N11D and H12 Plus — were developed forward from the ground up for the European market, with performance and specification matched to the real needs of local operators.
The N11D double-decker electric city bus is built for the climate and urban environments of the UK and other European cities, and suits commuter or city sightseeing routes. Equipped with a high-performance battery, it achieves a range of up to 650 km under the SORT cycle. It features an ultra-low first step and a maximum capacity of 80 passengers; the lower deck has a wheelchair ramp and wheelchair securing points, while the upper deck offers large panoramic windows — fully meeting the UK's PSVAR accessibility standard and European double-decker operating requirements.
The body is all-aluminum with long-lasting anti-corrosion treatment, along with reinforced chassis sealing and waterproofing for the electrical controls. The vehicle is fitted with a full suite of ADAS safety systems including AEB automatic emergency braking, FCW forward collision warning and 360-degree surround view; its digital operations system complies with the EU's GDPR privacy standard and supports remote battery health monitoring and fault prediction.
The H12 Plus premium touring coach targets Western Europe's intercity and cross-border tourist charter markets, with optimizations for safety, long-haul comfort and low maintenance cost. Its materials meet EU coach safety testing standards, and it comes standard with AEBS automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning, along with air suspension, all-disc brakes and a hydraulic retarder — ensuring safety and stability on curves and wet, slippery roads over long distances.
The vehicle also offers a large luggage compartment and a five-star cabin, with ergonomic seats and finely tuned NVH. Its powertrain has undergone long-term operating-condition testing across multiple regions, balancing energy efficiency with a low-maintenance design.

From Product Compliance to Deepened Solutions: Zhongtong's Answer to the Global Market

The fact that these two exhibits meet Western Europe's stringent market-access standards and operating requirements — and break through the competitive barriers built by established local brands — is not the product of any single technology.
Western Europe is the value high-ground of the global bus industry and a core testing ground for Zhongtong's globalization strategy. To break through, a company must have the capability to build a global system — spanning localized forward development, lifecycle digital operations and maintenance, and localized service support.
Zhongtong insists on front-loading R&D and putting standards first, having built a forward-development and validation system tailored to differentiated regulations worldwide. It carries out technical certification and reliability validation against each country's access requirements, steadily overcoming high entry thresholds. In 2015, for instance, Zhongtong obtained EU WVTA whole-vehicle type approval; and in 2023, after the EU introduced its new WVTA standard, Zhongtong again secured the certification — a passport into Europe's premium market.
Building on this accumulated regulatory expertise and localization experience, Zhongtong has to date exported to markets including Singapore, Portugal, Germany, the UAE and Denmark. Its scope has extended from pure vehicle sales to range adaptation, climate adaptability, fleet digital management and lifecycle services, as it strives to deliver comprehensive urban public transport solutions.
That systemic capability was on full display at the Birmingham show. Numerous Western European operators and industry experts visited the Zhongtong stand to discuss model localization, spare-parts warehousing and lifecycle services — and reached cooperation intentions.
After more than two decades of cultivation, Zhongtong Bus has evolved from a product exporter into an exporter of integrated technology and ecosystem. Going forward, it will continue to leverage its "global customization" advantage to open up greater space in Europe and other premium markets — providing strong support for "Chinese solutions" serving green public transport worldwide.
